This week in class we have been learning about how to be safe in floods.

Narratives

I was playing outside when all of a sudden they disappeared out of nowhere. I  looked around and called their names but I didn’t find them.
I ran home but while I was running I noticed that there were no one there it was so quiet, no cars on the streets, no one walking their dogs and  there’s no workers in the shop.
I ran home with fear in my head but when I got home it was dark. I looked around to find my mom but all I saw was darkness, I couldn’t find the light switch. I began to panic. I breathed heavily but I remembered what my Mom said “count to ten when your sacred” so I did what I remembered.
After awhile…
I calmed down and went to my bedroom. I was so worried so I slept.
The next day…
I was so tired but when I smelled cooking I ran down stairs and I saw my friends and my Mom on the table ready to eat. I was so happy that I saw them again.

Thunderstorms

If you have pets you will know they can act weird when dark clouds approach. When dark clouds shift in you area it means there is going to be a thunderstorm. If your on top of a field and there is a thunderstorm happening, you need to get to lower ground. Lightning can cause fire on high objects. In thunderstorms you should turn off all your technology that are plugged on to the walls. Heavy rains can cause floods. In winter rain drops can get frozen which is called hail.

Financial Literacy

Dear Cory Dixon and Jared Holmes, 

I have learned so much about Financial Literacy. I have learned so much about how to save money and to earn money. I will make sure to not spend my money on things I don’t need. 

Both of you helped Room 9 to learn about Risks and Insurance. Now I know what insurance and risks are. You also explained about credit cards and how bad they are because in the credit card it isn’t actually your money it is the Banks money.  Once you used all that money you have to pay them back with the same amount of money but sometimes more. You also taught us that it is better to save your own money to buy things that we need than borrow money that we might have to pay more. 

On behalf of Room 9 and Glenbrae School we all thank you for coming in our class, even though we were loud you didn’t get angry but you continued teaching us.

Narratives

I heard a bang from downstairs 
but I was home alone…
I went down to the basement and I peeked  in the side of the door it was dark, dark as a cave, I couldn’t hear anything it was silent for a while. Then I heard another ban. I peeked again and saw a guy wearing black clothes and a black mask. I ran upstairs panicking. I called my Mum and explained in panic. “Mum you need to come home right now, th-there’s a guy dressed in black in the basement”. My Mum said she was coming home right away, I waited and waited but she wasn’t home yet. It was silent again I creeped around and all I saw was a  messy house. As I ran upstairs I heard footsteps approaching. I stopped and turned around but all I saw was nothing I ran to the bathroom and locked myself up.
After a few hours…
I ran down because it was silent, then I went through the basement and that’s where I saw a mysterious door behind all my old stuff. I was pretty sure that the door wasn’t there before so I explored it for a while then I saw a forest, it felt like it was going to go deeper but I waited till my mum came back..
After a while she came back and she was terrified. She checked the house and if I was okay.
After a few months…
We decided to block the door and we did but at night it wasn’t blocked so me and my mum went to the forest everyday…
But one day they got trapped, they were screaming out for help but no one was there to help them...

The Night In The Woods

CHAPTER ONE: Hear the Whistle of the dead woods
“Hear that whistling Jake?” Jasmine speaked with curiosity.
 “Yes, who could be whistling at night?”.
“Dinners ready!”
 Mum shouted, “ok!” Jasmine and Jake both shouted in surprise.
They went downstairs talking about the whistle. “Whats wrong” Mum asked, “Nothing” they both respond pretending nothing happened while they were upstairs. They were eating their dinner quietly that their Mum knew that there were something wrong because it wasn’t like them eating quietly.
Their Mum sended them upstairs to their room, to play with their toys while their Mum washed the dishes. “Mum looked worried about us” Jake answered in sadness “bu-but we can’t tell her”, “tell me about what” mom entered the room asking them, they didn’t respond to the question instead they hugged her to make her feel better after keeping a long secret, “Mum, we don’t feel safe in this house, we just heard a whistle a moment before you came in we tried ignoring it Mum Jasmine explained.
“Mum we’re scared when we’re alone, can we sleep with you tonight” Jake asked in a terrified way.
Of course. They went all together in their Mum’s room and their Mum sang them a song.
*I sing this song to my little angel , they shall not
 Be scared with me to protect them but now it’s time to sleep.
Their Mum sang until they fell asleep. 
At the middle of the night.
“Jake there goes the whistle again, should we tell Mum” Jasmine whispered to Jake, “No, this is our chance to check it out” jake whispered back. They creeped downstairs to the back of the house where they found a shed. “What are you doing here!” “ahh!” Jasmine and jake screamed, an old woman told them to not got to that shed but when they ran back to bed they looked at the window and she was gone but the door was left hanging like she went inside and that's when they saw two pair of eyes  glowing. “What are you doing, I thought you were going to sleep with me” their Mum asked, “W-we jus-just needed to d-drink water” Jasmine answer in fright, their Mum put them back to sleep.

Chapter two:The Broken Curse or is it…
“I really think we need to tell Mum” Jake respond, “No if we tell her we’ll just make her sad” Jasmine answered in furious, “let’s check that shed again please” Jasmine begged, “fine, but if anything bad happens it’s your fault” Jake mumbled,“YES!” Jasmine shouted, they went to the shed and looked around if the old woman is still there and lucky she wasn’t, “heh I think she was just trying to scare us” Jasmine laughed, “I’m not sure about that” Jake mumbled again, they both went inside to see all around was stuffed dead animals they were screaming they both ran back to the house where their mother asked why were they screaming the explained “w-we went in the shed and saw all a-around th-the walls were de-dead and stuffed animals”,“but I just went in and saw it was clean and a woman was cleaning it, maybe it was you imagination or you bad dream you had last night”,they ran to their bedroom window and found the exact same woman cleaning it, then the woman looked straight at them, they both got scared and ran back downstairs, then they saw the old woman sitting on one of the chairs ready to eat,“Honey this is matilda she came to greet us and come for breakfast” their Mum answered them without and question. They ate their breakfast quietly actually more quiet than usual “umm Mum were going upstairs” Jake spoken in nervousness, “Umm,ok” their Mum let them go to their room, “What are we going to do and nice excuse by the way” Jasmine asked and greeted Jake. They both went to the window and saw the shed’s door was still open they curled up into a ball in fear, “Really,What are we going to do” Jasmine asked in fear, “well she is still down st-” that’s where their Mum came in and Jake didn’t get to finish his sentence, “That was rude why did you both do that, is this how I teached you both” their Mum asked, Jasmine and Jake apologized. Their Mum told them to go to the garden to play so they went, “Mum won’t believe us is we tell her” Jake whispered while they go down stairs but Jasmine didn’t answer back. Jasmine peeked at the shed when they were playing, “I think we should face our fear” Jasmine spoke up in confidence, so they went in. They looked around and saw a letter,
If you are reading this note make sure you don’t look at
An old woman’s eyes in the middle of the night
Because you’ll start hallucinating that the old woman
Is everywhere, SO BE CA-
“umm , are we hallucinating about the old woman we saw” Jake asked shaking in fear, “umm, I don’t really know let’s go back to the shed at night but we wear blindfolds”.
At the middle of the night…
“Wake up” Jasmine whispered while packing the blindfold, “umm,ok” Jake whispered back to Jasmine.
They went down the stairs and looked to their sides and continued walking, they used a stick to find their way down the stairs, “UMM, What a-are we goi-”, “shh” Jasmine spoke in the darkness. They entered the shed in fear, “wait” Jake whispered to Jasmine, “what” Jasmine whispered back, Jake gulped,”there’s something moving” Jake whispered, “AHHHH,RUN, RUN” Jasmine shouted. They ran fast as they could to get back in the house but when they opened the door it was a mysterious forest. “Umm, where are we” Jake whispered, Jasmine sighed “I think we’re LOST” Jasmine said in a feared way, but then they remembered that the note said “make sure you don’t look at
An old woman’s eyes in the middle of the night

Is everywhere”, Jasmine and Jake both gasp, “were hallucinating, so maybe WE DO KNOW WHERE OUR HOME IS” Jasmine talked in surprise, while walking to a brick wall, “hmm,this colour is familiar, IT’S OUR HOME”, Jake shouted. They went inside and they’re hallucinating stopped, PANTING, they ran to their room and hid under their blankets, “I’m so s-scared, what do we do Jasmine” Jake asked, “WE TELL MOM BY TOMORROW” Jasmine shouted in a feared way.
NEXT MORNING…
“MUM-MUM” Jasmine woke her mom up and explains everything.
“GO PACK YOUR THING TWINS” their Mum shouted while cooking breakfast. They ate breakfast and packed their thing but when they were moving they could still see her.

Story:an old woman was cursing an old forest with a house in front, she lived in a shed at the back at the house but then two kids which are twins discovered it and they managed to stop the curse.

Long Weekend Recount

“Yawns”

I woke up but I fell asleep again, “WAKE UP!” my sister yelled I got up and ate breakfast downstairs.
After eating…
I watched some YouTube on my TV, it wasn’t long until I got bored so I played some Roblox but then I thought “it’s not fun playing on my own”  so I called my friend named Cloydene from my tablet, we played while talking to each other.
But then I had to log off because I had to eat.
After eating again…
It was family night so we had to watch a movie, I got all my blanket and pillow also some snacks, we watched Lego Movie 2, my mom said we had to sleep so we did but we lied because me and my sister talked and watched together all night.
The other days were normally the same in the long weekends but I found Monday a very fun day so that is why I wrote about it.
