Field Trip Recount

On a fine Monday, room 9 and a little bit of room 10 had the opportunity to go to the Vodafone Event Centre. We got to meet New Zealand authors and illustrators, it was so exciting, I liked the book Mini Whinny By Stacy Greg and Paul Ruth, it was so fun and funny when they read it to our school and other schools. I also liked the part where an author did a rap, it was so funny and cool.
I also liked this author that wrote the bomb book, he made students including teachers to do some moves, it was hilarious. After a lot of authors we ate morning tea and lunch at the same time. I loved the part where two of my classmates went on stage with other students and they confidently answered some quizzes. I liked cheering on them because they are also my friends.
Once the whole thing was finished, my class went on the bus and drove back to school. When we got to school my classmates looked at the book my two friends won, it was a lot of cool books. I loved going to the Vodafone Event Centre it was so fun to meet authors in real life, I hope I can come again and maybe meet some of my favourite authors.

Fleas are normally brown or reddish. Fleas have no wings but they have antennas. Fleas are flat, they eat blood and flesh off an animal that is bigger than them or even humans but fleas don’t kill them, this makes fleas are parasites.

Butterfly Narrative

“If you can be an insect what would you be and why would you be that insect?” My friend asked, I answered “ummmm...A butterfly” my friend laughed “why would you want to be a butterfly” and I replied “because butterflies can fly and they have pretty wings”
“Umm...ok, you sound like a baby”, “lets just go to sleep” my friend Ava giggled.

“What happened” I said to myself,
“Where’s my legs and arms!” I shouted.
Narrator:Stephenie wandered around then she felt something uncomfortable on her back, it was wings on her back, she was freaking out, she didn’t know what to do but she was tired of walking so she decided to the flying.

Stephenie: “ummm...how do I do this, wait if I’m small with wing big as the butterfly I just saw a second ago then I’m  butterfly!”, “but-but how am I a butterfly” I asked myself.
I walked somewhere high then I jumped off the high place and before I knew it, I was flying.
“Whooo!!” I shouted in excitement, I visited lots of flowers and ate lots of pollen, It was the best day of my life. But at first I thought pollen was going to taste yuck, but it didn’t I was wrong. I loved being a butterfly.

Narrator:It was such a bummer when Ava had to wake Stephenie up.
Ava: “wake up Stephenie, wake up”, “you were talking in your sleep”
Stephenie: “oh was I?” I asked
“Yes” Ava replied “Anyways let's go eat breakfast”.

We ate breakfast and that was the most exciting dream I ever had.

Bee Information Report

Have you ever wondered why bees sting us, well they only sting us when they feel threatened or their trying to protect their queen, but what we don’t know is when they sting us they actually start to die.

Bees have a queen unlike us we have presidents to tell us what to do, without their queen they will die because the queen is supposed to tell them what to do, to survive.

Bees are insects with six legs, three body parts and two antennas on their heads, they live in a hive with a queen. Female bees are worker bees, drones are male bees they mate with the queen and the queen bee lays eggs.

When the season changes to winter, bees normally hide because they don’t like the cold wind. Bees are hairy, the pollen on flowers stick on bees hairy body.

Bees communicate by doing the waggle dance, they use it to tell each other where the location of the food is. Bees visit 50 to 100 flowers to make one pound of honey, they fly for about 55,000 miles to make one pound of honey.

Today we went to Auckland Museum, in our groups we had to start outside which my group saw a lot of things. We saw a Rosella it is a bird with lots of colours, after we saw the Rosella bird, we came across a tui and a fantail it was in two different places. we also got to hold iPads to take pictures of what we saw, it was awesome.

After we were finished going outside we had our morning tea, then we started to go inside the Museum, we saw volcanoes, dinosaur bones and world war 2.
it was so much fun going to the Museum with my school.

My favorite was going outside because we got to see a lot of birds and plants. My group also roots from a big tree. outside we saw baboons and spider webs. I love being outside. But we didn't see any insects.

After looking around so much we had to go back to our school.

Bee acrostic poem

Bees are small, small like an ant.

Each time a bee sees flowers they have to collect the pollen from the flower for their queen bee.

Everyday bees work hard to make honey for us.
